About the Bayside Film Festival
Artistic Director’s Message
Bayside Film Festival 2011 is going to capture your imagine with its collection of personal stories about the funny and engaging side of life. The curated program features a light hearted collection of Australian and World premieres, hand-picked for their originality and quirkiness.
Opening Night features the Australian premiere Love Etc, which reaffirms the importance of connection and love. I am also excited to present our closing night film, Amal, an Indian film which is having its Australian premiere.
Bayside Film Festival continues to focus on local and international filmmakers bringing a fresh approach to independent filmmaking. The Youth Documentary Program (YDP) involves the creation of short documentaries as well as digital stories made exclusively for the festival program both locally and in Afghanistan. In 2011 an international partnership has been formed with Skateistan, the world’s first skating school based in Kabul, to produce films exclusively for the Bayside Film Festival.
The Festival’s workshops and Q&As explore the filmmaking journey with some of the best talent in the Australian and international film industry such as emerging filmmakers Jonathan Auf Der Heide, Amiel Courtin-Wilson, Genevieve Bailey and sales agent Jonathon Page.
I hope you enjoy this program and it brings a touch of lightness to your world.
